Natural Dyeing Day
An introduction to natural dyeing, cultivating and foraging for plant colour at Martineau Gardens.
Join Camo on Sunday 10 July 2022 (11-4pm) for a day immersed in plants and colour. Learn about cultivating dye plants and foraging wild plants for dye baths. Get an overview of how to prepare and dye fibres, as well as modifying dye baths. Using cotton, wool and silk each participant will produce a range of dyed mini skeins.
Working at the intersection of art and ecology Camo has been working with eco dyes and pigments from her wild allotment in central Birmingham for the past 4 years. Her practice is rooted in parallels between human wellbeing, awareness of the more-than-human and eco restoration.
Lunch and cake provided. Places strictly limited to 12.
Ticket price also includes entry to Yarningham 2022 on Saturday 9 July.
Please note that this dyeing day is at Martineau Gardens and not Uffculme Centre.
Martineau Gardens is an accessible venue.
